Dental Treatments And Solutions For Crooked Teeth – Info You Should Know
No matter how perfect your nutrition was as a child or how many times you go to the dentist, many of us end up with crooked teeth. A variety of factors can lead to this condition, including tooth decay and adult teeth growing into an already crowded mouth. Adult teeth grow in one by one and, thus, have the potential to grow in crooked depending on the other teeth in the mouth.
While there is no doubt that taking care of these problems as a child or teenager makes the most sense, there are many different options available to adults, as well, that can take even the most crooked teeth and set them straight. Let’s take a look at two of the most common methods for fixing crooked teeth once and for all.
BRACES
The primary way in which people fix crooked teeth is with braces. Today, braces fall into two categories. There are the old-fashioned metal or porcelain, and there are the newer clear, plastic variety (most famously Invisalign®). The clear plastic braces are an excellent alternative for people who are concerned about the way they look and don’t want a mouth full of metal. The only drawback is the price associated with Invisalign® and the fact that only people who need a slight adjustment can use them. Metal braces, on the other hand, are still used by millions of people. Depending on how much adjustment your teeth need, you could be wearing metal braces for a few months or a few years.
VENEERS
Porcelain veneers are another option for fixing crooked teeth. These veneers are made of a thin layer of porcelain and fastened to the teeth to give them the appearance of being straight. The veneers are affixed with high quality glue and are airtight to the teeth so no food or water gets in between them. You will need to have a mold of your mouth taken so that the veneers can be custom-made. You will also need to visit your dentist regularly for a few weeks to ensure they are fitting correctly and working properly.
